Kizuna Encounter is an amazing game by the underrated hero's over at SNK .
Now when you say SNK to most kids today... if they even recognize the company's triple letter name they will spit out King of the Fighters to you! Great game of course! But do they know of it's origins? Do they know the arcade classics that half of the KOF roster originated from?
Fatal Fury? Ikari Warriors? Art of Fighting? Hell Ralf and Clark went from Ikari Warriors to KOF to Metal Slug! Now THAT'S cool! Well of course they don't know! That's why I bitch the way I do to keep these games afloat as best as I can in the gaming community today! We can't let the OG fighters of yester-year fade out in obscurity!!!
KIZUNA ENCOUNTER It's a 1996 arcade classic , a sequel to SAVAGE REIGN ( just as awesome!) that fell short after it's 15 minutes in the spotlight! I'm sure it was popular during it's time but now-a-days all I can find on the internet is people whining about it being "bland" and "forgettable" and more often than not, they compare it to Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat because of Gozu and Mezu (The ninja's featured in the picture above/ my two fav characters! I mean they are ninja's and...Ninjas are rad!) are simply color swapped characters. Placing them beneath Scorpion/Sub-Zero or Ryu/Ken.
I'm not bashing on Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, I grew up with those games as well and love them just as much but someone needs to speak up for this badass game! Kizuna Encounter is fun, easy, creative and the music is awesome as well! The combo's are fun to pull off, the super moves are really cool, the characters are cheesy in JUST the right way and... well , I guess I'm just gushing now! <3
SNK! I love you for Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown and Kizuna Encounter! :]
Is he really? Is that the same one that had Hayate in it? I have never played that version but I swear I've seen screenshots of this super high-resolution Hayate sprite! That's just too cool! Thanks for sharing!
OH THE LUCK!
Cool art again, Ishi
